3 men die in boat fire in Bantry Bay off West Cork Coast

Three men have been pronounced dead following a fire on a pleasure craft, The CastAway, off Adrigole harbour in Bantry Bay, West Cork.

There were 4 men in their 60’s on the boat at the time of the accident with one being rescued and taken to Bantry Hospital by coastguard helicopter. The emergency took place at about 6:15pm this evening.

It is understood that the CastAway was a rental craft and that the three dead were from Glengarriff with two of them of German origin. The survivor is believed to be from Connecticut in the USA.
