Thierry Henry to flee European Soccer

In the week that the memory of the ‘hand of Thierry Henry ‘ was resurected by the injustice suffered by Louth in the Leinster Gaelic Football Final, it has been announced that Henry himself is to flee the pressure of European soccer.
Following a disastrous showing at the world cup that many believe was ‘cursed’ his infamous cheating against Ireland in the qualifiers, Henry is nolonger the hero he once was at home in France.
He has today announced that he has signed for The New York Red Bulls from Barcelona on what was described as a “multi-year contract” by the US Major League Soccer club.
The 32-year-old former Arsenal captain moved to the Nou Camp in 2007 and had one year remaining on his Barca contract, but the club agreed last month that he could leave.

“Red Bull New York announced today that it has signed star French forward Thierry Henry to a multi-year contract as its second designated player,” the club said today in a statement on their website,

He is expected to make his debut on July 22 against Spurs at Red Bull Arena in New York.

The statement continued: “Henry, a World Cup, European Championship and UEFA Champions League winner, will be available for selection for New York pending receipt of his international transfer certificate and after the July 15 international transfer window.
