Iceland closes Irish Airports

Not for the first time this year, Iceland is in the news for causing ecenomic problems in Europe.

This time the bankers are not to blame, it is volcanic ash from Iceland that has brought all freight and tourist air traffic throughout North Western Europe to a hault.

Flights in and out of Ireland have been cancelled between 12pm and 8pm today as the cloud of ash spreads across Northern Europe.

All but a handful of flights this morning were cancelled at Cork Airport due to the disruption caused to Irish and UK airspace by the volcanic eruption in Iceland and all flights between Noon and 8pm have been cancelled. This has sparked a huge sudden demand for Sea travel according to a spokesperson for Fastnet Line’s Irish Sea Ferry service.
