Fastnet Line, the new ferry to Ireland, linking Swansea in the UK with Cork on Ireland’s South coast will have its inaugural sailing next Monday March 1st,2010.
The re-birth of the Cork-Swansea route follows over a year of planning and fund raising by West Cork Tourism and the formation of a coopearative of Tourism inetersts to purchase the ship, the MV Julia, that will sail the route from next week.
It is estimated that the ferry route will bring over €50million in business into the South West of Ireland this year. The floating hotel also offers huge advantages to people travelling between the Uk and Ireland’s south West as it reduces the amount of driving between Cork and London by almost 400 miles on a return journey. This presents obvious advantages to freight users too.
