Disappointment for Clarke as he misses out on Ryder Cup place

Nick Faldo has ignored the advice of Padraig Harrington and instead picked Englishmen Paul casey and Ian Poulter as his wildcard selections for the European Ryder cup team that takes place in the Kentucky venue of Valhalla 3 weeks from now (September 16th to 21st).

Despite a recent run of top quality form, Faldo chose to overlook County Tyrone man Darren Clarke.Clarke issued a statement saying that he was naturally disappointed but wished the team the very best of luck and vowed to be back on the squad in 2010 when the Ryder cup returns to Europe at the Celtic manor club in Wales.

Colin Montgomery, who has never lost a singles match in the Ryder Cup was also overlooked.

Despite the disappointment for Clarke, there are 2 representatives from Ireland in the European squad that is certainly capable of winning a fourth successive Ryder Cup against Paul Azinger’s American Team.
