Harrington calls on Faldo to pick Clarke and Monty for Ryder cup

Recent double major champion, Padraig Harrington has said that he would choose Darren Clarke and Colin Montgomery for the European team in the upcoming 2008 Ryder Cup.

The team captain has 2 ‘wildcard’ picks for the team and Harrington has given the clearest indication yet of who he would like to see Nick Faldo choose.

Dublin man, Harrington, stopped short of directly calling on faldo to choose the pair but made his feelings clear.
“I don’t see how you couldn’t pick Clarke,” Open and US PGA Championship winner Harrington said ahead of the PGA Tour’s Deutsche Bank Championship. “Darren carries stature into the Ryder Cup, which is very important. When you tee it up on the first tee, you want your opposition standing there and feeling that they’re coming up against somebody who has a bit of stature. Darren has that, and Monty has that too.”
Clarke and Montgomerie have played in 5 and 8 Ryder cups respectively and Montgomrie has never lost a sigles match in any of his appearances.

In reality there are 4 players for 2 spots with Paul casey adn Ian Poulter also having legitimate claims. Only Nick Faldo knows who will get the nod.
