Roy Keane adds to his Irish army

Hero to many, villain to some, Cork-man and Sunderland manager Roy Keane has today announced that he has signed experienced goalkeeper Nick Colgan for a one year stint.

Colgan is quoted by the club website ( as saying “I got the call from the gaffer and he gave me 24 hours to think about it, but I think it took me about 24 seconds to decide,”

Ireland international Colgan, arrives at the Black Cats following his release by Championship (division two) side Ipswich Town at the end of last season.

Colgan will play the role of backup keeper to first choice Craig Gordon, along with Trevor Carson, Darren Ward and Martin Fulop.
